Bird Box

$20.00

My church used to host a third-world gift fair in our chapel at the beginning of Advent. In the Great Room, located below the chapel, there would be a white-elephant gift exchange, and soup and fresh-baked bread. (There was also frequently tea; hopefully diluted greatly from the pot of tea concentrate!) The third-world gift fair spent several years as my one-stop-shop for Christmas presents; Christmas shopping has gotten a lot harder since we discontinued this tradition.

This box was made by an artist in either Latin America or South America, if I remember correctly. It was originally a Christmas present to my maternal grandmother (and had a tag at that time with its origins!), and spent many years being a colorful bird on her shelf, even when the flowers, birds, and critters of summer hid away for the winter. It now fulfils a similar purpose on my shelf.
