My paternal grandmother loved all things frog-y. Frog images, frog toys, frog stationary…. At some point, she found a pad of note paper in the shape of green frogs. Given the number of years she wrote “Froggie notes” to me (presumably to all of her grandchildren), I suspect she either bought in bulk or found a consistent supplier of this notepaper. As a result, all things frog-y immediately remind me of my Granny.
A related side effect is that I have also amassed a comparatively miniature collection of little frogs. A couple are plastic and clearly depict poisonous frogs; this one is porcelain and has led a long, gravity-filled life (note the broken foot). This frog was my mother’s from her childhood; I’m not sure when or how it landed on my porcelain shelf, but it’s the same color as a froggy note, so it’s there to stay!
