This baby blanket was created with variegated cotton-acrylic blend yarn. It is sized to allow both for use when the infant is first born and to transition to a child-sized lap blanket. Texturing is created through a knit/purl alternating stitch pattern.

I have two crochet baby blankets from one of my paternal uncles. They alternate living on the back of an armchair and are often pulled into service as lap blankets—the wool blanket in the winter, cotton in the summer. Baby blankets are a very small format compared to my usual blanket-making, but all babies deserve a blanket!
